Former NBA player–turned–referee Haywoode Workman teamed up with his wife to launch the HBCU Hoops Invitational at Disney’s ESPN Wide World of Sports — giving eight HBCUs a national stage with Maui-Invitational energy.
💭 “I said, that’s what I’m going to do… create an exclusive HBCU basketball tournament at the same level as the Maui Invitational.”
💭 His Vision: Build a platform that opens doors for HBCU athletes and students — on the court and in their careers.
